As many know, Nike is taking over for Reebok as the NFL’s uniform manufacturer in the very near future. Some people expect Nike to make radical changes to the uniforms of many NFL teams, although the evidence that we have so far suggests that only a few teams (including the Seahawks and Panthers) will be sporting updated looks in 2012.
Now, we have our first look at what appears to be a new Nike design. This image was posted (leaked might be a better word) on the Nike Football Facebook page, although there’s a good chance it will have been taken down by the time you go there. Whoever was responsible for allowing this new Panthers logo to leak may soon find themselves out of a job.
The image below is a new Carolina Panthers logo. The changes are minor, but they are certainly present. This is sort of a subtle modernization along the same lines as we saw from the Cardinals and Lions recently.

The leaked Panthers logo is shown on a pair of Nike receiver’s gloves, so the extra blue background and the crosshairs are surely not part of the official logo. You can still pretty much see exactly what it will look like, though. The eyes, teeth and whiskers have all been modified and there is much more electric blue shading. The new logo has a depth to it that was missing in the old one.

That new logo is NICE!! is looks to jump out at you while the original logo looks 2D. The lip is a little too thick, but other than that, this looks great!
I like the new logo. It’s an updated version of the old one, so it brings the Panthers into a new era. I think they’ll change the uni’s too, b/c this logo would look weird with the Panthers current jerseys.
I just wish I didn’t buy a new Cam Newton jersey before this came out.
You will be glad you got the classic version of the jersey at some point. That would have (notably) from his rookie season. I got my brother one as a gift and had the same thought. But I do think over time you will end up being in the minority as far as which Newton jersey you own.
The old Panther looks much more fierce and exciting than the new one. The panther looks like he is smiling in the new logo. Who can be intimidated by a smiling panther?

For future reference, this “leak” was not in fact a leak. It was marketing. Marketing companies don’t leak things on accident. They leak things so bloggers write about the “leak”.
it looks like it has a COLTS horseshoe hanging form its mouth! whats up with the rounded lip? love the panthers, do not like the fat lip.
