New Seahawks Uniforms Coming In 2012, Says Team President

seahawks uniforms 300x270 New Seahawks Uniforms Coming In 2012, Says Team PresidentThe Seattle Seahawks ushered in the era of monochrome NFL uniforms when they began wearing blue jerseys over blue pants in 2002. It’s didn’t take long for many teams to copy the look. It appears that the Seahawks will remain uniform innovators, at least for the foreseeable future. Team president Peter McLoughlin said in a recent interview that the Seahawks are the first team to sit down with Nike, the NFL’s new uniform supplier starting in 2012, and talk about redesigning their uniforms.

“It’s an exciting time,” McLoughlin said during an interview on Sports Radio 950 KJR in Seattle. “There will be no changes for ’11, for the upcoming season. 2011 is the final year for the Reebok deal with the NFL, and starting in 2012 we’re going to be going with a Nike jersey and a Nike design.”

“We’re looking at all kinds of new designs, and new kinds of jerseys, and we’re talking about a throwback for sure,”  McLoughlin added.

McLoughlin later clarified that fans should not expect a new logo or an entirely new color scheme, but that the Seahawks are still working with Nike to see “what it’s all going to look like.”

The Seahawks unveiled their current uniforms in 2002. Previously, the team had worn silver helmets and pants with blue and white jerseys.

seahawks uniform combinations New Seahawks Uniforms Coming In 2012, Says Team PresidentInitially, the Seahawks planned to wear their blue jerseys over white pants at home and their white jerseys over blue pants on the road. It didn’t take long before the team experimented by wearing blue jerseys with blue pants and the look was tremendously popular amongst players and fans alike. The Seahawks have continued to wear the monochrome uniform combination for most home games.

seahawks lime green New Seahawks Uniforms Coming In 2012, Says Team PresidentIn 2009, the Seahawks debuted a lime green alternate jersey. The look was almost universally panned as being one of the ugliest in NFL history and the team quickly (and quietly) decided to retire the bright green monstrosities.

After the jump, we’ll take a look at some recent fan designs for the Seattle Seahawks. The designs will be borrowed from the Chris Creamer Sports Logo Community, the best site on the Internet for sports uniform lovers. If you like the uniform concepts below, please visit the CCSLC.

Now, on to the concepts for new Seattle Seahawks uniforms:

Please remember that the following images are fan-created concepts. Nothing official has been unveiled yet. These are simply to give you an idea of what the new Seahawks uniforms might look like.

First up, we have this excellent concept by CCSLC user lafarge. It brings back the silver helmets and pants and eliminate the multiple shades of blue that the Seahawks currently use.

Next, we have raysox‘s take. Note the “winged” shoulders, which were included in many of the Pro Combat uniforms that Nike designed for college football teams this past season (such as Florida).

This is bigdub81′s extremely professional proposal. You’ll notice more than a hint of the classic Seahawks uniforms in this design.

Next up vmd9′s rendering of what the new uniforms might look like. Like many concept artists, he decided to keep the lime green jersey as part of the set.

This next concept is the work of a CCSLC member called buckeye. Note the redesigned helmet with larger eyes. The unique number font is also a nice touch. The Seahawks have always used a standard block font for their jersey numbers, but the recent trend in the NFL has been towards custom fonts.

Finally, here’s a concept by a designer who goes by the user name CAB.The design itself if pretty straightforward, but the absence of green and the white helmet are two elements that are rarely seen in Seahawks uniform designs.

  1. Clayton Leavitt says:

What will the seahawks do with their current jerseys

  2. Pat Carey says:

You must be kidding me. Our unifroms now are the best we have ever had. You want to change back to the ugly grey? What are you thinking?
Changing the helmets back is absolutely nuts.
We now, finally look like an NFL team. Are you trying to look like Dallas again?

    • hawks says:

What are you like 10 years old? I’m sure your a fan of the slime green jerseys also. And in regards to us looking like Dallas…Dallas couldn’t hold Seattle jock strap, we look nothing alike. Grow up!

      • Sean Goertz says:

hawks is right, the grey look for the helmets was amazing.

I say why not have the grey helmet at least for the away uniforms?

and that lime green uniform needs to burn… that thing is pathetic, I was embarrassed to see that thing being worn by my team, and I laughed at people in school who were dumb enough to buy them, cause apparently the younger generation that I’m a unfortunatley a part of now thinks, “oh, its new, so it must be cool and everything before it sucks.” idiots…

        • Chris says:

I think the lime green jersey’s would look good with white pants maybe even with the grey pants, but not as a home jersey maybe away jersey or if they ever play in London.

      • Hawks says:

The ugliest jerseys EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haste them. Why did Nike have to change them?????

  3. Don Kiedic says:

Don’t change the uniforms. They look good now.

  4. Harry B says:

Thank goodness that they are changing the uniforms. The color combo of the uniform worn since 2002 is horrible and really boring and it makes the players look like extras from the 1960s B movie Santa Claus conquers the martians.

  5. Andrew S says:

Dear Seahawks, You have the best uniforms in the league. DON’T CHANGE THEM!

  6. Rich O. says:

I welcome the new uniform ideas. With a new regime and soon enough a new QB, a new look should follow…I am just scared of what Nike is proposing. With as authentic to a duck as Oregon gets every season, it wont be long that they will have a beak for a face mask and real feathers on their pants.

    • Chris says:

I totally agree with you with a new QB they will be the team to but if they have a decent QB hopefully in the draft or free agency they can get one. Not a seahawk fan but I like them If I lived on the west coast I would root for them. Go Lynch

  7. ruben diaz says:

I love the third example with helmets in silver pants in silver tone of Royal Blue and the Green lime wow beautiful is that we have those colors but renewed so

  8. James25 says:

The first and third one looks awesome. I really like the whole set of the first one.

The Seahawks must go back to silver/grey that’s their tradition and where they made their mark in this league.

The green should be able to stand out way better in this set than before. I like the grey alternate top, maybe some green pants should be added to their combo. I can totally see Nike screwing with the Hawks unis like they do with Oregon.

The monochrome was cool for like one year and got boring and old real fast. With the Bills changing their unis the Hawks now have the worse unis in the league currently.

  9. Calan says:

Our uniforms now are awesome. I understand that they must be changed, as Nike doesn’t want Reebok uniforms on their sponsored team uniforms– however, I hope they keep something REALLY REALLY similar. How many times are you going to make the fans buy new fan jerseys? They aren’t exactly cheap– and I think most have invested in the most recent version. If you change them– the 12th man is going to look ridiculous…or maybe just 1-11.

    • TBar says:

Uniforms are history – why would you ‘have’ to rebuy anything? I have a Largent Jersey, a Kitna Jersey and a Trufant Jersey and I wear them all with pride. I get lots of great comments when I wear the old ones. This is a non-issue.

Not a big fan of the lime jerseys – but it does make nice high-lights. I was there when the team bombed in the green – it had much more to do with the lack of OL talent than any jersey, but it’s also something I would like to forget.

  10. I love the current uniforms minus the lime green ones. but the lime green looks awesome in that dark blue! Nike can put some alternates in and their logo. The helmet logo is one of the best in the league. Keep it real hawks front office

  11. HawkzMagic says:

The idea that “WE” are contemplating a return to the colors and uniforms that resemble the worst period in Seahawks history is UTTERLY Ridiculous! The grey helmets take us back to a time when we were the laughingstocks of the nfl! I LOVE OUR CURRENT UNIFORMS! With the exception of that silly green jersey that cannot be found on even high school teams, I believe we need to concentrate on who is inside the jersey instead of how to make our team look ridiculous …again!

    • TBar says:

Were we a laughing stock when we were the most successful expansion franchise the NFL had ever had? Was it when Jim Zorn, Dave Krieg, Steve Largent, Dan Doornick, Sherman Smith, Cortez Kennedy, etc were wearing our colors? Maybe when we beat Miami to go to the AFC Championship? When Chuck Knox led this team? Not all of our pre-2002 years were the best, but there is much to be proud of in their history.

The one place I agree with you is that who is in the uniform far exceeds the impoortance of what is on the uniform, with the addition that it also matters how they are coached. We’re doing well on that front as well.

      • Mach-a-Chine says:

i totally agree with you on that TBar, Seahawks do not get respect no matter what they do. i am proud of them no matter what colors they DON. think its kinda cool that they are looking to go in the “ducks” route.

  12. Jacob says:

I am a fan of the 1st and 4th ones, but I would like to see a green helmet instead of the current blue or previous silver. I also would like to see Nike incorporate a black alternative jersey to complement the green and blue and white, something like the Ravens uniforms which I think are one of the best in the league. I am totally in favor of a overhaul of the uniforms, new number fonts, possibly a new logo more in the tradition of the origination of the seahawk representation as a native american symbol, I think adding the wings like on the oregon uniforms might be a nice touch but in a slightly different design, alternative helmets would be nice too. I’d like to see seattle get talked about for uniform innovation much like Oregon has, and look, they were in the national championship game last year, and why not a new uniform design when Andrew Luck becomes a Seahawks next year?

  13. Sean Goertz says:

I really like the designs that raysox has (the name needs to be the same as the number though on the blue uniform, white with neon green outlining not just green), and the all grey look from CCSLC user lafarge.

the CAB designs would be really amazing too except there needs to be some neon green in the design. Otherwise the uniforms do kinda remind me a little too much of the basic outline Dallas has for their uniforms…

And I know this will sound crazy and I get it if I hear a lot of critizism for this but… I would be open to the possibility of even tweaking the logo a little too, not too much though, more like the little minor changes Detroit did a not long ago.

  14. Schoos says:

The only team in football that has worse looking unis than the Hawks is the Titans, that sucks for Hasselback. I think the silver helmet is a must and they dan’t need to change much else but the two different colors of blue at the same time, as my four year old, “those shirts are silly looking.”

  15. levi says:

Praying for that 3rd uniform! Please go retro!

  16. roo says:

No more neon, anywhere. Check out Full Sail Brewing’s Session Black, it is the right color combo for the current Seahawk blue. Enlarge the pigeon on the sleeve back to proper old-school Seahawk size.

  17. BILL NESON says:

I am with most of the fans, the current all blue look is the best, going back to the
    Dallas look, sucks………
We finally get a awsome unique look that stands out, now they want to go back
to a look that fits more high school football.
the fans should of got to vote on the uniforms, THE NIKE LOOK SUCKS…!!!!!!!!!!!!
No imagination on the new uniforms………

  18. Mike says:

Leave them as is. That big eye look on the hemet is retarded, it resembles a snake!

  19. Nick says:

The 3rd is definately the best “concept” I would stick with the blue that is currently worn, What’s up with a grey break? Keep it white. I like the throwback look. Don’t get all nike crazy all the others look retarded! Keep it simple it’s football I don’t need to see any Bronco uniforms. Look what the New York Giants, New York Jets, and even the Buffalo Bills did. I don’t like any of those teams but their uniforms are say Football! I especially like the Giants uniforms. Screw the Ducks! The Husky’s need to go back to solid Dark Purple and Gold again as well.

  20. Brennan Hartnell says:

I love the old style uniforms the seahawks wore in the 1990′s up until they changed to the NFC. The colors of Blue, Green and Silver were beautiful and great color contrast. I have missed those uniforms, and always wonder why other teams use throwbacks now and then, and the Seahawks never do. I would love if the Seahawks went back to a more old school style, or if they would just wear their old uniforms once in a while for crying out loud! I hate the solid colors they have now.

  21. schmidy says:

I LOVE the uniforms they have now I hope they dont change them too much I’d hate to see a whole lot of grey, seattle is already gloomy as it is with grey skies everyday. I love this uniform they have on this site:
    http://www.businessinsider.com/check-out-these-insane-nfl-uniform-redesigns-2010-11#seattle-seahawks-28

  22. Evan says:

I like the look of the matte finish on helmets. Many college teams did that this year and the look is tough. A dark matte siler helmet would look tough for the Seahawks. As for the jersey and pants…ehhh, I like the one we have and I like some of the new designs. Just stay away from any of the comic book look like Oregon Ducks.

  23. Ed Gomez says:

I like most of the uniforms, but please don’t mess with the logo. The Seahawk Logo is classic, tradition, so Pacific Northwest and unique. Also, exile the lime green for good! Go back to the Silver, Blue and White. The return of the silver helmet would be great as well.

    • Mach-a-Chine says:

it was not white! it was silver ,blue and green (old school) . now its navy blue, lime green and light blue. now mix all that up? = intresting season! i am all for it, just do not mess with the logo.

  24. Jamie S says:

Please don’t change. I don’t care if you change the logo (nike) but leave the colors alone. Yes the green needs to stay!!! I am not that young..ok I am older & I love the lime green. It is too soon to change our uniforms. Change the Quarterback!! Keep the Beast Lynch!! I just found the perfect coat this year..I can be picky. I have the old coat as well, so I need some time with the new one. Haha

To say that the old team was not good is disrespectful and I will be the first to call you out! I have loved the Hawks my whole life Largent was the Man!! Dave Kreig was fun to watch and who can forget Brian Bosworth “The Boz”. I look forward too all of are young talent and a fantastic new year!

  25. RanDino says:

Thank goodness they’re changing!! The currant uniforms are embarrassing. Please get rid of the Neon, lime, electric slime green crap. Keep the Navy blue and bring back the silver helmets. The old 78 – 01 uniform colors were too whimpy. Keep it dark and tough and no electric green……..PLEASE!!!!

  26. steven murphy says:

I LIKE THE 4TH ONE GO BACK 2 THE GREY PANTS HELMET THE UNIS WE WORE IN THE KINGDOME JUST KEEP THE SAME LOGO WE HAVE NOW NO MORE LIME GREEN, OR DONT CHANGE IT AT ALL CHANGING IT ALL THE TIME MAKES US A JOKE AND IF YOU CHANGE IT ONLY MINOR TWEAKS PLEASE. THE NEW SOUNDERS UNIS ARE UUUUGLY PLEASE DONT MAKE US FANS THE ONLT NFL TEAM AT HOME GAMES WEARING 4 DIFFERENT UNIFORMS AND 4 COLERS.IF CHANGE GO BACK 2 THE OLD SCHOOL COLERS.

  27. AgentJ says:

Any of these that replace the white with silver (or ANYTHING ELSE) is great in my book. White jerseys are the most boring thing on the face of the earth.

  28. Bill says:

I love the look They have now.. wouldn’t change a thing.

  29. Turk says:

Being Nike’s be-atch for both the Seahawks and University of Oregon may a “Cool” thing in the great northwest, but the rest of the country is laughing!!! The last bowl game the Ducks participated in, I didn’t recognize them. How about getting 1 color scheme and sticking with it? When the Steelers, Cowboys, Raiders, Packers, 49ers, Bears and so on take the field, they are recognized around the world!! When the re-invented every couple years Seahawks take the field outside of Seatlle, most scratch there heads? These are two Nike ran organization with no control of it’s own product!!!!

  30. scott says:

do not go back to the gray helmets, the blue helmets are awesome

  31. David says:

Good idea’s. Recommend starting out with a “Statement”; havine a young team with the potential to dominate the NFC West in 2012, I would suggest putting some Black in the uniform – I agree with most that Gray isn’t the answer and having some Black would bring out the BEAST’s within this team!!

  32. Riley says:

I hate the new jerseys keep the old one and you better keep marshawn lynch in Seattle offer him a good contract

  33. Turk says:

As a Raiders fan it drives me nuts when “Other” teams incorporate a black jersey!! Yeah, that’s sounds cool! No, keep your own color scheme and don’t be prancing on to the field against Oakland wearing black! It’s bad enough you designed a stadium to keep noise in, pump up the volume on the PA and market that 12th man crap! We don’t need to do that in Oakland lol.

  34. ImTheThirteenthMan says:

I like the blue and white color scheme, but change the helmet color! And next time, stick with the design.

  35. Paul says:

I simply despise when anyone that is a fan of the Jokeland Faders has an opinion and tries to back up his point with ridiculous rhetoric that has no bearing on the original conversation. Thanks Turk!

  36. Cameron says:

A lime green helmet with blue pants and a blue/silver jersey? Not grey, silver! Working on the design now…stay tuned.

  37. mccaller says:

First off the NFL allows for 1 and only one helmet. This is the NFL, not dress up Ken dolls “Barbie”. Second off; you ever notice the NFL classic greats like Steelers, Packers, Bears, Raiders keep the same uniforms year in and year out. That’s because they’re known all over the world. Not like shody teams like Seahawks, Jags, Panthers. They change uniforms to sell jersies, because they have no tradition and suck on the field. Jags have changed their uniforms every 2-3 years. Nope, they are LOSERS like the Seaturds.Third off, Black? yeah that will make them better??? Do you really think that makes them any more competitive? They’ll never be like the orginal team that wears black! GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. New Uniforms for a new era, great idea but for the love of god do not change the hawk logo it’s perfect the way it is.

  39. Michael Kroenlein says:

I really have to go with the ” Birds of Prey” idea, but I just can’t get behind the ‘wings” on jthe shoulders. Maybe being an OSU person and hate for the Oregon Ducks, i don’t know, I just don’t like ‘em! Color’s nice though.

  40. Mikeisfilthy says:

It’s Nike. It’s gonna look cool. These are all unofficial fan made designs. Nike won’t let the city of Seattle down, it’s the closest NFL team to their location, they’ve gotta have some people there who have a passion for the team like we do. Plus they said “all new and possible throwbacks” that to me says making a couple of new baller styles (ie Oregon’s Rose Bowl jerseys) and a throwback in addition, just to honor where the team has been. I have full faith in Nike to create something awesome for the Seahawks.

  41. Rich says:

design a new uniform that makes the seahawks intimidating to opponants. Im sorry but whoever came up with this new uniform concept should have there eyesight checked. and why do you guys have to stick with the traditional colors? change it up a bit. darker home uniforms. and neon green for an alternate uniform come on. youre getting nikes combat uniforms, make the hawks look combative, not happy go lucky. and change up the helmet logo…..im sure you guys can come up with a more aggressive looking seahawk.

  42. I like how hasselbeck is the first name used on the first jersey at the top of the page!! This will be his second season out of She-attle LOL!!

  43. steve says:

    RETRO……………PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,…I BEG !!!

  44. C-HAWK48 says:

If the Hawks do anything with their uniform, just BRING BACK THE LIME JERSEYS!!!!

  45. HTK9 says:

Although I like our color now,
It would be nice to bring a flat colored helmet give that aggressive look…

If considering changing anything, I have a suggestion can we get Seattle king logo as a throwback, for atlases one home game I think it would be nice to see what Seattle profootball team would of look if we originally name our team Seattle Kings… Just a suggestion to bring back old memories of how Seattle pro football got started…

  46. HTK9 says:

Mccaller I do agree with you that those team you mention has tradition from the past, but that’s where that ends the pass incase you didnt know everyone in the NFL knows Seahawks were the true SB champ but instead “stealers” cheated there way to get the SB… So before you start dissing SEAHAWKS look at 06 SB and you’ll see “stealers” suck and is exactly what there team logo is “stealers” of Seahawks SB…

    GO HAWKS

  47. steve says:

I actually kinda like the white helmet idea.

  48. john says:

not in to goin back been there done that
    like what we have now.
like the solid blues and solid whites
    kind of navy like

  49. Logan says:

First off dont change the helmets. And please no light gray ANYWHERE. The Birds of prey nike design is the best and the all white uniforms look pretty great for the road. Also we should use the number font from The 6th and 7th ideas frim Buckeye. But whatever you do dont change them too much. And maybe a dark emerald alternate jersey?

  50. Rick says:

Please no giant eye ball helmets, lime green jersey and PLEASE do not make the uniforms resemble the Oregon Ducks uniform in ANY WAY. And to that Steeler fan up there I’m proud that the Seahawks will never be like the Steelers. I’m tired of seeing Ward or Harrison whining on ESPN about the refs and the league policy. Ur QB is a piece of s*** off the field and ur fans wave around penalty flags at home games. Oh and how did it feel to get TEBOWED last year??? HAHA

  51. David says:

im not a Seahawks fan but i think the best uniforms for them probably top 2 for me is the 5th set by CCSLC member Buckeye and the 1st set by CCSLC member Lafarge. But with the 5th set they can still pull off the silver helmet displayed in the 1st set with the 5th’s uniforms

  52. Will Dell says:

@Sean Goertz this generation huh? mhmm… quit complaining. Our generation rocks, i bet your one of those kids who won’t partake in something that you are truly interested in because it’s, “too mainstream.” admit it!
On a serious note, Seattle’s jerseys (not ours because i don’t actually play for the team) are the best in the league, why mess with perfection. If it is not broken, don’t fix it

  53. Carrie says:

You Must be on drugs to think up such a ridiculous color scheme like you did….YUCK!
I Personally think theyre uniforms look great and I also agree to getting rid of the lime green….whos Idea was that?

  54. DeQuan aka dehawk says:

Okay okay everyone. These are fan built jerseys so stop being ducks to the ones that are being dicks. Respect the seahawks old school jerseys and the lime green. When they do release the New Jerseys we will be pleased, cause nike does a good joke with designing uniforms. Go hawks team blue

  55. Darlene Anderson says:

As we can clearly see, the new uni’s–no matter which they choose–will not please all of us. Some of us are going to be disgruntled no matter WHAT they do. (The football Grinch!) I am just proud of the guys who are wearing them and I will cheer like crazy no matter what they put on them. I can’t WAIT for the new season. I think we are in for a great ride!

  56. Ryan says:

I’ve heard the new logo features the lower stripe (currently the light blue) will be grey as of Tuesday. Not really any different from the current logo besides that. The helmet might be a bit darker of a blue. I wish they’d go with the white, I’ve always loved white helmets like the ones at Indy and Penn State. Also heard that the new jerseys are supposed to be blue, white (of course) and an alternate being some combination of grey and green or something like that, and that they’re going to include some sort of wings into the design… just hope it’s not too similar to Oregon’s. Please, please, please don’t f@&# this up NIKE!!!
