Many people are seeing the new Nike NFL jerseys for the first time tonight. They look largely the same as the Reebok jerseys looked, except with Nike logos on the shoulders.
On the topic of the shoulders, many fans are wondering whether Nike messed up and accidentally sewed backwards Nike swooshes on the jerseys. They did not. Official Nike style requires the swoosh to always face forwards, with the pointed end flowing to the back (as if blowing in the wind). Think of shoes. The swoosh points towards the back on both sides of a shoe.
It’s the same with NFL jerseys. On players’ left sleeves, the swoosh looks like the swoosh we all know. On right sleeves, it looks backwards (to some). It’s correct, though.
