But not in the way you might think.
When the Colts signed veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to back up sophomore Andrew Luck, it created a bit of controversy. Not a quarterback controversy — there’s absolutely zero chance he puts any pressure on Andrew Luck for the top spot on the depth chart — but some speculated that Hasselbeck might try to snatch the No. 8 jersey away from third-string quarterback Chandler Harnish.
As it turns out, Hasselbeck is a good dude and he decided to let Harnish hold on to No 8. After all, the guy has the number in his Twitter handle, @CHarnish8. Hasselbeck made him an offer he couldn’t refuse, however: sink a basketball shot from half-court and he’d give him $8,000 for the number.
Then this happened:
Peyton Manning worked out with a group of Denver Broncos wide receivers including Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker at Duke University earlier this week. After the training ended, the receivers received some unwelcome mail — in the form of an invoice.
Was Duke really charging them for the time they spent practicing there?
The whole thing turned out to be a practical joke perpetrated by Manning. Eric Decker shared a photo of the invoice on Twitter, crediting Manning for a good joke:
Nice little practical joke Peyton drew up…making me think I have to pay for workouts in Duke t/week @mortreport twitter.com/EricDecker87/s…

Step aside, every single NFL fan except this guys. He’s the ultimate fan.
Or fantatic, at least.
His name is Miguel Andrade and he lives in Mesquite, Texas. To show his love for his favorite NFL team, he painted his entire house in silver and blue.

We just posted a story about the new Miami Dolphins logo leaking. The same Instagram user who posted a snapshot of that logo also posted a picture of what appears to be the new Jacksonville Jaguars home (black) jersey for 2013. Here it is:
Everything appears to line up with what we expected. It’s black, which former Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis told Pigskin Buzz it would be back in April, 2012 at the Nike uniforms unveiling event. It features the new shield logo that the Jags debuted back in February of this year, too.
Interestingly, the shoulders appear to have a drak gray or charcoal design on them — something that’s totally new to the Jaguars. There’s still a little bit of teal, but the color has been de-emphasized is a serious way (as we expected).
What do you think, Jaguars fans? Is this an upgrade?
Instagram user sneaker_pimp_simmons just posted a very interesting photo, which he claims is the new Miami Dolphins logo that’s currently scheduled to be unveiled on April 18. This look to be a legitimate leak.
Here’s the post:
Here’s a closer look at the logo:
Thoughts?
It looks very similar to the leaked concept logo we saw several weeks ago — the one the Dolphins insisted wasn’t the real deal — except it has an eye and the shading is different. This is what that logo prototype looked like:
It seems that the Dolphins were, indeed, telling the truth. The leaked logo — which many fans hated — isn’t the real deal. It’s just very, very similar to the real deal.
The NFL has made it pretty clear that it wants to put a team in London, England before too long. The league still has a long way to go before Brits understand all the nuances of the game, though — or even some of the most basic stuff.
Desmond Bryant, a defensive tackle with the Oakland Raiders, was arrested in Miami yesterday. He was charged with criminal mischief, after allegedly getting drunk and causing a scene at a neighbor’s house.
None of that is interesting in the least, but there’s one aspect of this story that’s totally bonkers: Bryant’s insane mugshot.
Look at that thing! It’s a mugshot for the ages — maybe the best (worst?) in NFL history. The bewildered look on his face is priceless. The neckbeard is glorious. If the term “mouthbreather” ever applied to anything, it applies to this picture.
Want a hot tip for how to make your wedding day extra special? Make a cake out of your favorite NFL player, so you can eat him up and weird out all your guests. Or, you know, don’t — up to you!
Some guy named Nathan did, though. His buddy tweeted a picture of the cake, which was made in J.J. Watt’s image, to Watt himself, hoping to get a retweet or perhaps just to really creep out Watt:
@jjwatt Here’s the groom’s cake from my friend @stephanievpoe and her husband Nathan’s recent wedding. #bullsonparade twitter.com/bdeoff/status/…

Making things even creepier is that this isn’t the first time a member of that family has commissioned an NFL-themed cake. Previously, they made and ate this headless Dallas Cowboys cheerleader torso:
